film fests!

hplffsite_headerimages_pdx2017bEarlier this month, my out-of-time Hawai’i elder deity + i-heart-dogs story “The Eyes of Kaha’i” appeared in the official H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival program book and as a perk of their stunningly successful crowdfunding campaign launched from sunny Portland, Oregon (my other other home).  This week I’m in Austin, Texas for the Austin Film Festival and Writers Conference. With the city’s current water boil warnings in effect, all bets are off as to which bar you can find me in. Do come find me though, if you’re around. Really. Do.

Late Night Debut with co-host Daniel H. Wilson

So that really great  — and by great I mean I had a total blast — Late Night Library recording I made at the gorgeous downtown Literary Arts space for the Late Night Debut is out and about in the world! Late Night Debut host Amber Keller = amazing. Co-host Daniel H. Wilson = amazing.  BLACK MOON, by Kenneth Calhoun = yes, amazing.

About the author and the audiocast from the Late Night Library site:

press-Kenneth-Calhoun“There’s a connection between the notion of the soul—or the subconscious, let’s say, in more psychological terms—and our humanity, and those things are articulated to us in the form of dreams.”

Act 1: Host Amber Keller covers controversial and entertaining book stories in the news
Act 2: Co-host authors Daniel H. Wilson and Alex C. Renwick discuss Kenneth’s debut
Act 3: Daniel talks with Kenneth about tapping into one’s dreams, the ability to sleep like a champ, and what happens when we lose both

Late Night Library podcast

black moonSuper pleased to be heading downtown to the Literary Arts building here in Portland tonight to discuss Kenneth Calhoun‘s debut novel BLACK MOON with bestselling local author Daniel H. Wilson.  Curious to hear how a free-form discussion of an apocalyptic disaster novel will turn out between me and the author of such books as Where’s My Jetpack?: A Guide to the Amazing Science Fiction Future That Never Arrived and How to Survive a Robot Uprising: Tips on Defending Yourself Against the Coming Rebellion??? ME TOO!

More on this awesome event orchestrated by Late Night Library when I confirm details of airing dates, etc. Sweeeet!
