Tainted anthology cover revealed

Strange Publications has revealed the cover for their forthcoming collection, Tainted:  An Anthology of Terror and the Supernatural, including my short story “Station Thirteen.”

This was an interesting project.  The call was to craft an updated, modern piece inspired by one of the following classic horror tales, all of which appear in the anthology:

Inspiration, strange as it is, struck me with what I thought would be the least likely of the above stories to grab my attention.  I don’t think I’ll reveal too much more about the anthology until I hear more from the editor, but it’ll be a total riot to share a ToC with the likes of H.G. Wells and Edgar Allen Poe.

Purchase info and full Table of Contents as they reveal themselves . . . .

Denvention 3

I’ll be attending the 2008 Worldcon in Denver this week, August 6th-August 10th.  The Denvention site describes the event as “a five day celebration of the science fiction field. Previous Denventions were held in Denver in 1941 and 1981; this will be the first Denvention of the new Millennium. Denvention will attract several thousand science fiction readers from around the world . . . .”

My scheduled appearances:

Broad Universe RapidFire Reading Saturday @ 1pm in the CCC room 503

Signing in the CCC Hall D Saturday @ 4:45.

I also plan to attend the Codex Writers’ Group breakfast on Saturday morning and to hang out near the Hadley Rille Books table in the dealers’ room at least a bit.  Other than that, it’s fly-by-the-seat time.

If you see me around please come say hello.

New Poetry Editor: Camille Alexa joins Diet Soap

Camille Alexa has joined Diet Soap as poetry editor and first reader.  A fine writer her work has appeared in such publications as Escape Pod, ChiZine, Space & Time Magazine, A Thousand Faces, and more.

Her email address is poetry [at] dietsoap [dot] org.  She has requested that future submissions contain the word “submission” in the subject line, and that I falsely attribute a quote from Karl Marx to her.

Camille says, “The writer may very well serve a movement of history as its mouthpiece, but she cannot of course create it. ”

We’re glad to welcome Camille to Diet Soap, and look forward to how she’ll influence the future of this little journal.
